Speaking of led screens, small pixel pitch led display is undoubtedly the focus of attention. Unlike traditional led displays that focus on outdoor applications, the rapidly emerging small pixel pitch led screens are eye-catching in the indoor applications market, and directly confronted with strong LCD and DLP.
In the current indoor large screen display field, LCD splicing is a well-deserved NO.1. With its advantages of thinness and low cost, it is widely used in many types of places, dominates the low-end market, and actively develops into the high-end application market. However, LCD splicing has always had a clear disadvantage - gap. Although with the rapid maturity of liquid crystal display technology, the gap is rapidly shrinking (currently a minimum of 3.5mm), but it is still the largest one in the current display technology. This is in stark contrast to the fine pitch led display with a completely seamless display, and is an important reason why led display manufacturers are optimistic about the fine pitch led.
In the field of large screen display, DLP splicing has always been known as “seamless splicing”, so it can firmly hold the high-end application market under the strong attack of LCD splicing. Nowadays, the fine pitch led screen, which is said to be seamlessly displayed, undoubtedly directly “disregards” this trump card of DLP, and even surpasses it. Because small pixel pitch led screen realizes the true sense of no seams, and is no longer just a reduction of the seams. This is one of the important reasons why small pixel pitch led screen has been highly concerned by DLP splicing manufacturers at the beginning of its birth.
In addition to no seams, compared with DLP splicing product, the application of small pixel pitch led display is more flexible, and can be combined with touch, naked-eye 3D, 4K and other superfluid elements to meet more diverse application needs. However, at present, the fine pitch led screen can't compete with the DLP splicing wall in the fineness of the screen display, which means that DLP splicing is still the first choice in some application fields with high requirements on the screen.
The development of any technology is a process of continuous development, and the fine pitch led screen is no exception. Compared with LCD splicing and DLP splicing, it is not difficult to find that the fine pitch led display as an emerging technology has both outstanding advantages and obvious disadvantages. As long as there is support from the manufacturers, the advantages can be continuously consolidated, and the disadvantages can be gradually restored. But, first of all, there must be large-scale market demand, then the manufacturers will invest heavily. However, at this stage, the first problem to be overcome by mass popularization is high cost.
According to industry insiders, at present, the price of 1.9mm fine pitch led screen is similar to DLP splicing products. Considering the difference in gross profit margin, the cost is even higher than that of DLP. For the user, considering the comprehensive cost performance under the premise of meeting the application requirements, the fine pitch led display may not be the first choice.

However, in the case of limited application market acceptance, the manufacturers have not reduced their investment in technology upgrades, in order to occupy the commanding heights of the led industry. This has led to a "relative technology surplus" in the small pitch LED industry. For example, the minimum spacing in the industry is 0.8mm, and from the application point of view, the cost of products below P1.0 is too high, and users can't afford it.
This means that at this stage, for small pixel pitch led display, the urgent need to break through is not the technical bottleneck, but how to ensure the maximum value of the user's investment in the case that the product cost cannot be temporarily reduced. Only "value for money" or even "value for money" is in line with consumer psychology. Experts believe that this is a test of the ability of manufacturers to comprehensive services. Who can take the lead in making breakthroughs, who will be able to gain more voice in the application market.
